In 1976, Cadillac had introduced the Eldorado Biarritz, in tribute to the Biarritz models that had become so popular during the mid-1950s and continued into the 1960s. For 1978, the Biarritz option added a convertible-like padded vinyl top, unique script, body chrome moldings, and accent stripes. The Biarritz package included opera lamps, remote-control passenger-side mirror, and color-coordinated wheel discs. A Custom Biarritz Classic option was also available, which added a two-tone paint scheme.

The Cadillac DeVille, for 1973, was the company’s most popular model, with 103,394 examples produced of the sedan. The DeVille was responsible for over 70% of Cadillac’s production. Power was provided from an overhead valve V8 engine displacing 500 cubic-inches and offering 375 horsepower. In many respected, the Deville was a Calais model with more trim, better and more luxurious appointments, rear armrest and standard power seat.

Cadillac was restyled again for 1963. Exterior changes imparted a bolder and longer look. Hoods and deck lids were redesigned. The front fenders projected 4.625 inches further forward than in 1962 while the tailfins were trimmed down somewhat to provide a lower profile. Body-side sculpturing was entirely eliminated. The slightly V-shaped radiator grille was taller and now incorporated outer extensions that swept below the flush-fender dual headlamps. Smaller circular front parking lamps were mounted in those extensions.

All 1941 Cadillac’s were powered by a 346 cubic inch V8, with increased compression, that produced 150 horsepower. New for 1940, was Cadillac’s use of the fully shiftless Hydra-Matic transmission. The Hydra-Matic, originally developed by Oldsmobile in 1939, became a staple of the line until 1949. This combination produces a 0-60 mph time of 14 seconds and a top speed of approximately 100 mph. The 1941 Cadillac models wore GM Styling by Harley Earl and Bill Mitchell, and was a departure from the past in terms of styling, with the old upright, V-shaped radiator grille replaced by the horizontal ‘egg-crate’ grille treatment. This car has black number plates which refers to certified vintage car (99% original).

The Series 62 was higher priced, had a distinctive Cadillac grille, and the front fender stone shields and rocker panel moldings were grooved. Detail refinements included the replacement of the prior ‘rainbow’ cluster-style dash design with a more conventional layout featuring a horizontal speedometer. The biggest change was the introduction of a new overhead valve V8 engine which offered an impressive 160 horsepower.
